Tributes have been paid to a former Tenby town councillor, who passed away earlier this month.
Seventy-one-year Trisha Putwain died at her home on Bridge Street by Tenby harbour on June 9, after a short battle with cancer. Predeceased by her husband Dicky, she will be sadly missed by daughter Rosie and her many friends.
Mrs. Putwain was partly known throughout Tenby as one of the seaside resort’s weather recorders, a role she undertook for many years, whilst she had also been elected chair of the ‘Trustees of the Tenby Charities’ earlier this year.
With her funeral taking place on June 18, and due to current Covid-19 restrictions in place, a funeral cortege departing from Mrs. Putwain’s home allowed current members of Tenby town council and other town’s people to gather and pay their respects as the hearse left Bridge Street, via Crackwell Street and the Norton before the graveyard service at Tenby New Cemetery.
Paying tribute to his former fellow councillor at the most recent remote meeting of Tenby town council, Clr. Laurence Blackhall said that Mrs. Putwain always brought ‘intelligence and humour’ to discussions around the council table, and debate was always conducted with great ‘humour, humility and good friendship’.
“The town is lesser for her passing,” he added.
Donations can be made in memory of Mrs. Putwain to NSPCC c/o W and M J Rossiter and Sons Ltd Funeral Directors, The Old Rectory, The Norton, Tenby.
