Members of a junior triathlon club in Pembrokeshire have thanked Valero Pembroke Refinery, following a donation to help purchase new equipment.
Just Tri Junior Triathlon Club was set up in 2017 to provide young athletes with an opportunity to gain experience of triathlons in a fun and safe environment, with weekly training sessions taking place at Greenhill School in Tenby. Valero’s donation of £500 has helped towards purchasing a specialist race bike to be used by club members in training and upcoming events.
Sion Jenkins from Just Tri, said: “We heavily rely on donations from local organisations to purchase equipment and kit for our members. We are extremely grateful to Valero for their kind donation of £500 to purchase a race bike. It will benefit our athletes in training and whilst racing. ”
Stephen Thornton, refinery public affairs manager, said: “With events like Ironman Wales having inspired so many people across our county to take up new challenges, it is a real pleasure to be able to support groups like Just Tri who are encouraging young people to keep active and healthy. Hopefully this new equipment will play a big part in ensuring our next generation of athletes have what they need to achieve great things in sport.”
