The family of a Pembrokeshire youngster who sadly lost his life last year have thanked people in the community for donating towards a memorial bench at Tenby harbour.

After twenty-one-year-old Billy Anderson Miller from Fishguard went missing one night in June of last year, and was last seen heading towards Tenby harbour, following a three-day search involving the emergency services, sadly, his body was recovered in Pendine.

Billy’s family thanked communities at the time for the support shown to them in difficult circumstances, stating that they had been ‘overwhelmed’ by how much love had been shown, and a A GoFundMe page was set up by family friend Andrea Sterry to fund a memorial for Billy.

Now a bench has been unveiled at Tenby harbour so Billy’s loved ones and friends have somewhere to sit and remember the good times they shared with him, with the words ‘Forever young and forever loved’ featured in memory of Billy.

Billy’s family have said that they would just like to thank everyone that took the time to donate money to the GoFundMe page.

The family have also given grateful thanks to Michelle Salmon of Pembrokeshire County Council for her help in organising everything, and Tenby’s Harbourmaster for allowing them to put the bench in that location.

Billy’s mum, Heather has £350 left over from the funds raised which she will be donating to Tenby RNLI as the family are eternally grateful to them for bringing ‘Billy home’ to them

“We know that the search and support goes a lot deeper than the people that we’ve mentioned but we can’t thank everyone involved enough for the support and kindness that has been shown to us through this time; and hopefully we’ll all be able to meet on Billy’s bench someday!” a spokesperson for the family told the Observer this week.
