Last Monday, the directors came and the Tenby Project held its first steering group meeting. Everyone discussed what was going well, what they think could be done better, and what they would like to do in the next few weeks. Places to put posters, and people who may wish to join the Project were discussed. Possible activities, along with the equipment that would be needed, were discussed. It was agreed to get some cookery equipment, litter picking equipment, IT equipment and indoor sports equipment including a set of yoga mats. The bookings for workshops coming up for the afternoons were looked at, and arrangements for this Monday morning when Augustus Place is already booked were made. Everyone agreed to have another steering group meeting in a month, and the directors left.
After a quick lunch, everyone headed up to the Tenby Museum and Art Gallery to have a look around. We met our friends from the TRI on the way up the hill and Mark, the curator, was waiting for us. Thanks are due to Mark for opening up especially for our visit. Everyone enjoyed wandering about looking at the geology display, the art and the display all about the history of Tenby. Even the views out of the window are glorious.
Afterwards, the TRI decided to head to the Dennis for a coffee, and the Tenby project headed in to Morris Brothers to get some cooking equipment. Now everything is prepared for the morning when we have wet weather and cannot go out to do shopping, gardening or litter picking.
Back at Augustus Place, after a hot drink to warm up, one of this week’s challenges was completed with everyone telling stories of things that happened to them on their birthday! Challenges for next week were decided on, and everyone agreed to meet at Augustus Place but to be ready to head straight out again, hopefully on the dial-a-ride for a trip out in the morning before heading back to the hall for our afternoon creative writing workshop with Judith Barrow. Exciting times!
Everyone is welcome to go and join in the creative writing workshop in the afternoon. There is no charge, but donations are gratefully accepted. Judith is going to be demonstrating some ways to make poetry using pictures to inspire you, and no previous experience is required - just have a go. The workshop should start soon after 1 pm, in Augustus Place Hall, on Monday, January 31.
