Sir, My wife and I would like to offer our wholehearted thanks to the harbourmaster, Matthew Broadhurst, assistant harbourmaster, Chris Salisbury, and the whole team for their efforts in saving the ‘Doodle’ from total destruction during the tail-end of hurricane Ophelia. Our special thanks also to all our friends in the harbour who assisted him so tirelessly through the evening, night and also this last weekend with ‘Storm Brian’.
We feel so guilty that we had to abandon our helpers and leave Tenby, but we left to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary abroad, with the whole family; it was impossible to cancel at this time.
We have received many communications of good wishes and comments for the future of the ‘Doodle’, a boat which has become an iconic feature in Tenby harbour, since her arrival in 1962.
It is our hope that we shall be able to save her; a total ‘write off’ would be too hard to bear.
We thank you Tenby for all your support.
Paul and Jill Richards,
Castle Square,
Tenby.
