“When we encouraged those of you that live or work in Tenby and its surrounding area, to share your lockdown creativity with us, we had no idea of the enthusiastic response we’d receive,” explained Anna Waters of Artisan Avenue.
“That enthusiasm and wealth of talent, didn’t go unnoticed by Mark Lewis, curator at Tenby Museum.
“It was some time ago that community-minded Mark first floated the idea of us exhibiting at the Museum; and recently, he’s been able to confirm a three-week run, commencing January 12, 2021.”
Mark remarked: “This has been a wonderful community driven project and what better way to celebrate our re-opening after our longest period of closure since we first opened back in 1878 than with a show that truly belongs to the indomitable community of Tenby?
“There have been some truly amazing pieces shown on social media and we will also be including some other works that formed part of our Museum Of Memories project that we instigated back in April. I am really looking forward to being able to host this exhibition.”
Anna said that everyone involved with Artisan Avenue are ‘over the moon’ that the most prestigious venue in Tenby has agreed to exhibit the work.
“The next four months will give us all ample opportunity to get our Lockdown creativity to exhibition standard - a little tweaking, a frame or perhaps a coat of protective varnish,” she continued.
“We’ve now got the scope to do the best job possible and make this exhibition truly memorable! This is our chance to shine as something other than just a tourism hot-spot but as the creative and talented community we are!
“So, keep sharing Tenby! Add to those Lockdown creations and get January 12 into your diary! We will need your work to be delivered to the museum on Tuesday, January 5 with details of your piece also,” added Anna.
In the meantime, the creativity continues, and the group aims to continue to invite the whole community to take part.

This week the group have been delighted to hear from talented model-maker, Steve Lewis that his Mayflower model ship is now off the blocks and joins the fleet.
Debbie Hill remains as creative as ever, with her painting of The Plantagenet and Merchants House receiving a lot of love online; whilst Paula Freeman has been a creative power-house lately, sharing many pieces, with one quirky and charming drawing (featured) being a particular favourite.
