GLOBAL adventurer and author Rosie Swale Pope, who for many years lived in Tenby, is nearing the end of her Run Across America.
Rosie’s Run Across America (to benefit cancer awareness and local charities), her latest adventure, began in New York City in October, 2014. She has traversed the country, notably running through Badwater Basin in Death Valley (the lowest point in North America at 282 feet below sea level), then 84.6 miles later towing her 300lb cart Ice Chick over 2,000 feet elevation gain in six miles to Whitney Portal (8,374), before summiting Mt. Whitney (highest summit in contiguous US, 14,505).
Rosie-Swales-Pope is recognised as one of the world’s most courageous and gutsy women. She is the only person in history, man or woman, to have undertaken an epic solo, unsupported run around our world - over 20,000 miles, facing extreme danger, bitter Siberian winters, wolves, axemen and desolate loneliness over nearly five years.
A true humanitarian and beloved advocate for all who could use a little inspiration, Rosie runs with love and compassion in her heart - making friends and sharing her joie de vivre with those she meets along her journeys.
Rosie and her trusty home on wheels, Ice Chick’s, west coast finish takes place on Thursday, December 29.
