Tenby’s very own Ros Moore (accompanied by Wynford James) will be performing at the Brecon Jazz Festival tomorrow (Friday) night.
Known to many of her friends as ‘the mermaid’ (“I disappeared one day in the dark whilst walking home with a new friend from an arts venue - he could see nothing but sea and assumed I must be a mermaid!” explained Ros) the performance of songs from the ‘Great American Songbook’ will take place on the small acoustic stage in the main square between 1 and 3 pm.
“I am working with Wynford James a swing pianist/singer with whom i have rewritten songs from the swing era and obtained the copyrights to perform them in Welsh,” said Ros.
“I grew up the daughter of a Carmarthenshire pianist Dorothy Louise Williams and sang from a very early age.
“Wynford on the other hand began accompanying his family members and others before the age of 10 following the Welsh tradition of singing and thereafter his great interest in Swing and Jazz
“We are also including an element of French in our repertoire on Friday.
“Our music has been developed to entertain people as we believe that humour is essential,” she added.
