Tenby Rotary Club recently held a presentation night with donations being handed over to worthy local causes and charities.

The Ian Williams Foundation which works in conjunction with CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) will be the focus of the Rotary’s fundraising this year.

Twenty-seven-year old Ian - a talented rugby player with strong Tenby connections, suddenly passed away last year, after collapsing whilst training for English championship club Doncaster Knights.

His father Phil is the treasurer of Tenby Rotary Club, so the organisation’s president Tom Cullen felt that the Foundation set-up would be an appropriate choice for this year’s chosen charity, with a donation of £1,000 being made to the cause, and further proceeds to be presented from the Rotary Club’s ‘wishing well’ located on the town’s High Street.

Over £7,000 was presented to various organisations last month as a result of the money raised by the Rotary’s main annual fundraisers - the Summer Spectaculars held in Tenby and the fireworks display.
