The Tidy Takeover challenge, promoted by Keep Wales Tidy, gets children out in the fresh air and helps to reinforce in them the importance of having respect for their local area.
The event, lasting most of the day, informed pupils about how important it is to look after the community by keeping it clear of litter.
Pupils were thrilled with receiving such wonderful comments from members of the public throughout the day, with many offering to help and thank the pupils!
“In total, over 40 bags of rubbish were collected! This event will also be used to help us, as a school, gather the relevant evidence to help us achieve a prestigious Platinum Eco-Schools Award,” said Headteacher, Mr John Palmer.
“We’ve always aimed to be a school at the heart of the community and the worth of this is highlighted more than ever in the new Curriculum for Wales.
“We are so pleased to allow the children to be out and about in Tenby again and to take action that benefits everyone in the town.
“Thanks goes to our Deputy Headteacher, Mr. Alan Davies, for organising the day so that classes take responsibility for cleaning areas all around the town, including beaches, housing estates and our own school grounds.
“Thanks also to Bethan Evans-Phillips, Education Officer for Keep Wales Tidy and to Tenby’s Deputy Mayor and our ex-governor, Clr. Mrs. Tracey Evans, for supporting the children on the day.”
