It proved to be a busy coffee morning at the Tenby Project.

Last Monday, after a slow start, everyone was kept busy looking after all the visitors who had come to the coffee morning at Augustus Place Community Hall from 11 to 12 each morning. Cherry from PAVS also came to hand over the Tenby Project’s certificate as Tenby’s first Dementia friendly organisation, and she stayed for coffee too! There was a mixture of young and old, from a four-month-old baby to a couple of ladies in their nineties, and everyone seemed to have an enjoyable time.

After cooking pasta and pizza for lunch, the Tenby project participants settled down to learn about positive behaviour and how we can all help each other to stay calm and happy. Hopefully now, everyone will be good at noting the signs that someone is getting anxious, and know what to do to look after each other. After testing out a boardgame in which you had to try not to laugh – impossible! - and making sure the PS3 that one member has lent the project was working properly with the projector, people tidied everything up and decided it had been another enjoyable day.

This week, Monday, September 12, there will be a coffee morning as usual to which everyone is invited, and after the Tenby Project participants have made and eaten lunch, a tuk tuk will be coming to take everyone out for a mystery tour – just to see what it is like having a go on a tuk tuk! If you are interested in having a go, please come along to Augustus Place Community Hall by 1.15pm.

If you would like to join the Tenby Project, it is £1 for tea and coffee all day, and £3 to share the jointly prepared lunch, but otherwise is free. There are always two staff members, and anyone is welcome, particularly people with learning disabilities.Get in touch with Anne Draper on 07811359686 or [email protected] for more information.
