The choir performed at the Giltar Hotel to a packed audience on Tuesday, August 21.
Our MD Ian Williams sent congratulations to choristers for producing their fifth phenomenal concert in a row. They entertained a large contingency of tourists from the USA as well as a party from Germany.
One brave lady from Yorkshire was coerced into introducing My Grandfather’s Clock with our MC.
Our MD Wilbur then invited Craig Mann, a holiday maker in the audience to conduct the choir. Craig conducts a brass band called Integra who are based in Manchester and have performed with the choir on several occasions.
They are keen supporters of the RNLI and raise money for this cause whenever they perform. He seemed to do a sterling job as the choir stayed in tune, the solo instrumental pieces went well and the audience ticktocked and dingdonged in all the right places!
Yet again when they performed The Rhythm Of Life Wilbur made the choir hang onto the last note for a very long time.
This was greeted by thunderous applause from the audience.
For their final number, An American Trilogy, they were joined by a chorister from Coventry and Craig Mann.
We were treated to solos from Eric Mullins, Kevin Morgan and John Butland and a stand up hilarious performance from Eddie Stapleton.
The loud applause and sale of Choir CDs bore testament to the quality of their music and to their ability to entertain with such flair.
The choir will perform on Thursday, September 6, when they will be joined by a professional operatic singer who is now based in Glasgow.
Phil Gault will be competing in the Ironman Wales competition on Sunday and has agreed to perform with the choir.
Phil will be raising money for Parkinson’s UK and he will also lead the singing of the Welsh National Anthem at the start of the swim on Sunday morning.
The concert will be at St Mary’s Church and the doors will open at 7.30 for an 8 pm start.
