On Thursday, December 9 at 2 pm, Thelma Mort and Neil Rhind, both of Tenby, were married at Haverfordwest Registry Office.
The bride grew up in Tenby and has lived most of her life in the harbour town. Thelma is the daughter of Christine Dodson, who also lives in Tenby. The groom, Neil, is originally from Cardiff but moved to Tenby.
They are both avid bikers and have covered thousands of miles together. They have been through France, Spain, Austria, Italy, and all the way to Romania. Before the pandemic they used to set off from Tenby on their motorbike (Neil driving, Thelma riding on the back) and tour Europe, so it seemed appropriate to get married in their biker gear!
The staff at the Registry office staff waited eagerly to hear the motorbike arrive; they said it’s the first wedding they had experienced where a couple was married in their motorbike gear!
Witnesses at the wedding were Thelma’s daughter Rachel (née Mort) and her husband George Loffman, who travelled from their home in York; Neil’s sister Denise Wilcockson and her husband Paul, who came to Tenby from Cardiff for the occasion.
The happy couple live in Greenhill Road, Tenby. They are planning their motorbike honeymoon around Europe - perhaps to Turkey. But they are going to see what happens with the pandemic and also wait until the weather in Britain and Europe is a bit warmer!
