Tenby Arts Festival has announced its decision to cancel this year’s festival due to take place over the week September 19-26.
Festival chairman, Robert Smith, explained that the decision had been taken with great sadness and reluctance. The week, a highlight of the late summer season, attracts many visitors to the town from all parts of the UK and is always well supported by the local community.
In whichever way the situation develops between now and late September, the Festival is concerned that people are understandably likely to remain anxious in the light of perceived risks and uncertainties and that it would be unrealistic to assume that a successful, well attended festival could be staged in September.
The Festival had planned a full week of varied, stimulating and entertaining events. This September’s intended performers and participants have all been invited to come to Tenby for the festival week next year, 2021. In this way, the week’s planned pleasures could be seen as postponed, rather than lost forever!
