‘SwimNarberth’ is planning to re-open next month for children’s swimming lessons, as part of a phased return to normal.
The date pencilled in is September 7 for the pool’s re-opening, but for children’s swimming lessons only to start with, and then as soon as current restrictions begin to loosen, the facility will be looking to extend provision as quickly as it can.s
“At SwimNarberth’ we aim to provide high quality lessons, taught by qualified, passionate teachers, who are both inspiring and caring,” said the organisation’s chair Sue Rees.
“We aim to provide enjoyable lessons that are fun and exciting, but ensure that your child is safe at all times. Our class numbers will be low (maximum of four) to ensure each child gets the attention they need to improve.
“We anticipate a high demand for places for these lessons, especially since there will be no school swimming until at least the Spring term. But, due to extra safety measures put in place for Covid-19 and the much reduced size of the classes, we have had to increase our charges to £7 per lesson.”
Lessons will be booked in blocks of six weeks to half term, and paid for at the time of booking. Bookings will be on a first come first serve basis; unfortunately, if classes are not filled they will not be able to run.
“As a small, not for profit charity, our community owned pool, has to be able to cover all our costs and maintain the safety of everyone who uses it,” continued Sue.
“It is smaller than any of the municipal pools, which means that, with the restrictions of Covid-19, we are allowed to accommodate much smaller numbers of people at any one time, but our running costs are the same as when the pool is full and back to normal. We will be sacrificing economy for better quality teaching, in much smaller classes.”
