At Whitland Mart last Thursday, there was an excellent entry of come 99 cull cows and 52 fat cattle forward from producers subject to livestock movement restrictions.

A considerable number of producers are very please that an outlet now exists for cows and cattle of this nature.

Cull cows sold to a top of 130ppk and to an average of 81.69ppk.

Top price per head was £975 for a 750 kilo Limousin cow.

Overage steers peaked at 124ppk and averaged of 102.69ppk - the top price per head was £890 for a 800 kilo Holstein Friesian. Heifers in this category sold to a top of 114ppk per kilo and a top price per head of £685 for a 600 kilo Limousin.

In the fat cattle ring, steers averaged 123.03ppk and sold to a top price of 151.50ppk equating to £864 for a 590 kilo Limousin. Heifers sold particularly well averaging 119.48ppk and to a top of 140.50ppk - £798 for a 585 kilo Limousin.
