A Tenby women is celebrating, following a successful sky dive.

Fifty-nine-year-old Ruth Lloyd, of North Cliff, did the sky dive on August 2 in aid of two causes.

Mrs. Lloyd, along with two staff-nurses from the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (RD&E), where they work, raised money for the Force Cancer charity and to help buy equipment to improve the hospital’s Otter Ward.

Money raised will be split betwen the two, with half going to each cause.

The Otter Ward at the hospital helps patients with post operative care after undergoing surgical treatments for cancer.

Force Cancer is a charity that helps people who have neck and head cancer.

The charity has run a successful Aquather swimming service which helps neck breathing patients to get back in the water.

The group raised £834 - £84 above their target of £750.

Afterwards Ruth spoke to the Observer and told us how she felt about her experience:

“Strangely I didn’t feel nervous at all. I felt more nervous the week before when we had gone up to look at the place and we couldn’t jump.

“When it came to the actual jump, I felt fine.”

“It was the greatest achievement in my life, it was really exciting,” she added.

And what would she say to other people who are thinking about doing it?

“Just go for it, it’s so exciting, it really is good,” said Ruth. “The actual people that we did it with they were called Sky Dive Buzz.... and it really does give you a buzz.”
