All are invited to enjoy the match where it’s hoped that lots more funds will be raised for the mental health charity MIND who offer support to people and believe no one should have to face a mental health problem alone.
Alison shared: “We had a fantastic time at the last match and raised lots of funds to help support people struggling with mental health issues. I organise these memorial charity football matches between Kilgetty and Tenby in memory of my late son Philip (Phil) Yates who passed away in 2015 due to depression. Mental health illness affects us and our loved ones, so many are lost, too young, both male and female. Families are left heartbroken as their teenagers and young adults feel they cannot cope any longer or tell their family and friends how they are feeling.”
Phil loved football. He played for Tenby and Kilgetty football clubs, and formed some great friendships.
Once again, Phil’s teammates and friends will be playing in the charity match to support MIND and uphold Phil’s memory.
As well as remembering her son, Alison wants to help others, saying: “MIND is a wonderful charity doing a fantastic job raising awareness and giving opportunities for anyone who is suffering to talk and get the individual help that is so desperately needed. Every charity needs financial help, MIND is one that really can make a difference in helping so many people, both young and old, that suffer this awful illness.”
Representatives from MIND will be attending on the day.
Visitors are invited to arrive at Kingsmoor Sports Club from 12 noon; kick-off is at 1 pm.
Entry to the match is free. Fairtrade coffee and tea with cake will be for sale, alongside a cake stall and a bottle stall. Activities include the chance to have a go on the bouncy castle, and a raffle with some fantastic prizes.
Fairtrade footballs will be used during the match and a Fairtrade football signed by Welsh internationals: Joe Allen, Ashley Williams, Sam Vokes and Stoke manager Nathan Jones will be up for auction.
Kingsmoor Sports Club Bar and facilities will be open.
“Please come along and support us, see a great and entertaining football match for the charity MIND. If you cannot attend on the day to watch the football game and donate, then please can you give a little to this worthwhile cause on our Just Giving page? We couldn’t save my son, but perhaps we can save others,” invites Alison.
