KILGETTY Women’s Institute has demonstrated the strength of community support for a local swimming pool by donating to the Swim Narberth appeal.

Recently, Kilgetty WI president Julia Mills and her fellow member Nicole Bowles presented a cheque to Narberth Swimming Pool for their appeal to raise funds for urgent repairs to the building and save the much loved swimming pool.

Responding to the donation, a spokesperson for Swim Narberth said:

“We’re incredibly grateful to the members of Kilgetty WI for their generous donation of £500 towards our fundraising campaign for Swim Narberth. Support like this is vital in helping us secure our £40,000 match funding as part of our application to the Welsh Government for a grant to replace the pool’s roof.

“As a much-loved community facility, the pool is used by local residents, schools and swimming groups, and donations from organisations such as Kilgetty WI show just how strong community support for the pool really is. Their contribution brings us one step closer to securing the funding we need to carry out essential work and ensure the pool can remain open for many years to come.

“We are still actively fundraising and would warmly welcome support from other local businesses, community groups and organisations who would like to help safeguard the future of this important community facility.

“Many thanks again to Kilgetty WI for their generosity and support.”
