'Fatally scarily dangerous' is how a parent has described walking his children to and from Narberth's new primary school.
In a letter to the town council this week, the dad said walking to the Jesse Road school from the Spring Gardens direction was like 'running the gauntlet'.
"The speed some of these idiots are going will make the difference between life and death," the parent wrote.
"I don't want me or my kids to get killed, nor do I want my children to see one of their school friends splattered in full colour close-up on Jesse Road," the parent added.
Councillors have been concerned about the problems for some time and the Mayor, Clr. Colin Williams, has suggested a 20 mph speed limit past the school.
Clr. Mrs. Sue Rees asked for a speed survey to be undertaken, while it was also suggested there be a cycle track one side of the road and pedestrians only the other.
After considering the letter, members of the town council called for county council officials to meet councillors on site so they could see the dangers experienced first hand.
Whilst in Narberth, the officers are also to be asked to discuss proposals for a build-out in Spring Gardens which councillors are unhappy about.
The concept was to provide a build-out 37-metres from St. James Street on the south side of the street in the right turn lane for St. James Street which aims to reduce the distance for pedestrians to cross the road.
Town councillors would prefer to see a zebra or pelican crossing at the location and were concerned that the proposed build-out would cause 'gridlock' and further 'pandemonium'.
Town council clerk, Mrs. Caroline Coaker, will now write to Pembrokeshire County Council asking for site meetings.
