I would like to write in support of Clr. Michael Williams’s article regarding the demolition of Tenby Infants School.

I strongly feel that it is both unnecessary and extremely short-sighted of PCC to go ahead with this demolition.

The building is in good working order and was clearly built to last; surely it could be put to good use?

With Tenby Library, Youth Club and Avenue Centre under constant threat, this could not be more apparent.

I understand that in order to go ahead with the new school, a large piece of green land was taken away and therefore should be replaced. However, replacing the school with a patch of grass (or maybe even astroturf) seems a waste when we already have a large playing field and astroturf at Greenhill, a rugby field at Heywood Lane and a football field at The Clicketts. I fear that it would just be surplus to requirements and therefore become a huge regret.

When I look back at the demolition of Shanly’s, I can’t understand how it was allowed to happen and wonder that maybe in years to come people will feel the same about this?

Yes the location and parking are a problem, but in the grand scheme of things, these are not earth-shattering issues.

I believe that, like Shanly’s, this will become a huge regret for Tenby. So I urge PCC to re-evaluate these plans before it’s too late and maybe, just maybe there is another way?
