After a series of successful events and a surge in large donations, fundraisers helping to ‘Save St Florence Church’ are pleased to announce that they have not only reached their target of £14,000 - but exceeded it!

The total raised to date is £22,706.46 - and a big thank you goes to everyone in St Florence and beyond who have donated both time and money to help raise this magnificent sum.

The community in St Florence launched an appeal before the summer to help save the historic Graed II village church from closing, as the listed building was is in desperate need of repairs to the church tower, roof and flooring.

The Griffon Choir ‘Celebration Concert’ to officially announce the fundraising total, will be held on Tuesday, September 25 at 7.30 pm at the church.

It will be free entry but contributions are warmly accepted.

“A big thank you is given to all who came and supported the afternoon tea on Wednesday, September 12 - with an amazing £426.53 raised!?” said one of the fundraising campiagners Harry Evans.

“Thanks also go to Natalie, Dan and the children from St Florence school who helped wait tables.

“The extra money will be held as a contingency until the work is completed and will then be transferred to general church funds.

“The current cost of keeping the church open is £1457.18 per month.

“Thank you again, please continue to support your local church,” he added.
