Over £500,000 is to be spent on providing safe walking and cycling routes in Narberth.
Pembrokeshire County Council has received £510,000 Safe Routes in Communities funding from the Welsh Government to develop walking and cycling routes in the town.
The money will be spent on new and improved shared use paths, safe crossings and traffic calming measures to encourage people to travel to school and work without using cars.
Plans include the installation of a 20 mph speed limit outside Narberth Primary School and the erection of bollards to prevent car parking on the verge outside the school.
Paul Smith, Pembrokeshire County Council's walking and cycling officer, welcomed the grant.
"Any moves to encourage people to walk or cycle more in their communities - in particular children travelling to and from school - are to be welcomed," he said
"As well as improving people's health, such moves also benefit the environment and reduce traffic congestion."
