Over 40 children from the Narberth and Whitland area, together with their carers, Rotarians and friends descended upon Folly Farm recently for a memorable day out organised by the Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland.
The adventure was part of the nationwide 'Kids Out' event organised as a special treat by the Rotary movement for children all over the United Kingdom.
Rotarians from all over Pembrokeshire and the UK were accompanying children and their carers on similar events. Over 1,000 children from Rotary District 1150 alone, which covers South and West Wales, including the whole of Pembrokeshire, together with carers and Rotarians, enjoy a fabulous day out at various locations, usually, on the second Wednesday of June each year.
"This is a special day for Rotarians as well as the children," said John Sleigh, vice-president of the Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland. "It is a pleasure to witness the joy expressed by all those who come. The smiles on their faces are sufficient recompense for those of us who help during the day."
Vice-president John thanked the Plas Hyfryd Hotel, Narberth who, again, generously gave a packed lunch to each child. The children also get some pocket money from the Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland to enjoy in the park.
"We are especially grateful to the Plas Hyfryd Hotel, Narberth, and to everyone at Folly Farm for their generosity and for the wonderful welcome they have given us," said vice-president John "They have gone out of their way to make this a special day. It will be long remembered by all those who came along and thoroughly enjoyed the occasion."
