Lin Miles recently attended her last meeting of the Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland before embarking on a 400 km. sponsored cycle ride through the Rift Valley in Kenya.

Lin has been training for some months and has lost several stone in weight and has now had her necessary injections and anti- malaria tablets

The event is organized by 'Action for Charity' and the money will go to charities like Breast Cancer Care, Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action.

Lin has been sponsored by the Rotary Club, individual Rotarians and on the evening of the meeting, the proprietors of Plas Hyfryd Hotel generously donated all the money paid by the Rotarians for their meal (over £200) to the cause..Altogether Lin has raised over £8,000 and the whole effort will raise £1.8 million.

As a spoof, the Rotary Club presented Lin with a cycle which turned out to be a 100-year-old penny-farthing bike from a local museum.

Lin's husband David is to join her at the end of the ride when they will have a holiday in Mombassa.
