After a weekend of numerous incidents on Narberth's Garfield Gardens estate, when police were called to attend on a number of occasions to deal with vandalism and general anti-social behaviour by a small minority of people, many of whom do not even live on the estate, action is now being requested by local residents.

Clr. Wynne Evans said: "I have visited a number of homes on the estate in the last couple of days to talk to residents who now have real concerns for their safety.

"What has been going on beggars belief that truly decent people are being targeted for no reason whatsoever. They cannot sleep at night because of noise and other activities, therefore positive action and proactive presence by law enforcement and housing officials have to be taken.

"The county council are doing everything possible to remove tenants because of their behaviour, but have to follow a legal process that takes sometime to get to the courts.

"Senior police officers have visited the areas and spoken with residents, and I will chair a meeting with chief police officers, council officers, and all residents of Garfield Gardens who wish to attend. Everyone deserves to feel safe in their homes and we will make this happen."
