Sir,

One swallow does not make a summer, and one letter from a disgruntled resident of New Hedges, in your issue of September 23, does not represent the feelings of the majority of local people I have spoken to.

I was born and raised in New Hedges, where I have spent my life.

My family, together with a large proportion of residents of New Hedges, are proud that the village contributes to such a prestigious event as Ironman Wales.

We are pleased that it will be with us next year as well as, hopefully, the following five years.

Our thanks also to Pembrokeshire County Council workers who clean up so quickly after the event. On the Monday lunchtime, the village was back to normal.

Well done all.

John and Christine Butland,

Proud supporters of

Ironman Wales.
