The first meeting of the ’Poetry in the Park Tenby’ group will be on Monday, August 17, at 3 pm, in Battery Gardens to make plans for a first event in September.

Poetry in the Park is a poetry group that holds monthly meetings in a local park every month.

It is a free community gathering that invites all those interested in poetry to come along and simply listen to poetry recitals or share a poem or story and celebrate a love of the written or spoken word.

The Poetry in the Park idea is inclusive to members of all ages; some existing groups hear poetry from those aged three years old to 93 years young! The poetry can be in any language, and everyone is welcome to share their poetry or just to come along and listen!

Poetry in the Park has two main aims:

• To bring poetry outdoors into various communities to adults and children through a range of actions, mediums and environments which challenges people’s perceptions about poetry, how it is delivered and how we can relate to it.

• To be inclusive for all, all ages, races, abilities.

If you have an interest in poetry and would like to help us start a Poetry in the Park group in Tenby then register on https://www.changex.org/ie/poetryinthepark/tenby-uk-pembrokeshire or phone Anne on 844002 – or just turn up!
