Local councillors have called for a site meeting after deferring discussions on proposals for a re-development of a Tenby hotel.
Applications (including listed building consent) from Mr. Bill James, of the Atlantic Hotel, came before members of Tenby Town Council at their meeting on Tuesday night.
The plans for the hotel situated on The Esplanade include - a two-storey extension over existing rear wing to accommodate two self-catering apartments; conversion of basement to second floor to create four new self-catering apartments; alterations to existing flats on third and fourth floors to create self-catering apartments; construction of a new lift shaft.
Discussing the matter, the Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, believed that Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority were due to meet with the owners of the Atlantic and the Clarence House Hotel, also situated on The Esplanade, for a site meeting.
“I wonder if we can ask to be a part of this meeting,” she suggested to her fellow councillors.
“Looking at the plans, there is concern that there would be a loss of light to the Clarence,” she added.
Clr. Laurence Blackhall echoed those thoughts.
“The land at the back of the Clarence and the rose garden is a big feature, so it would be a big loss if it was diminished by a loss of light,” he said.
Councillors agreed to defer the matter until a site meeting is held.
