Tenby Civic Society have called for the owners of a new pizza premises and the local authority to find a solution to parking problems already caused along a busy one-way system into the town since the establishment opened last week.
The executive committee of Tenby Civic Society’s recent meeting agreed the need for the authorities and the new Domino’s takeaway and restuarant, to address the parking problem caused by customers of the newly opened branch.
“The obvious likelihood of Domino’s fast food take away attracting parking outside its front door was raised by local objectors but dismissed by County Highways, the Planners, The Appeal inspector and Domino’s in the decision process,” said Harry Gardiner of the Civic Society.
“This photo shows they were wrong and now is the time they found actual solutions at the busiest junction in Tenby.
“Protective bollards have had to be installed elsewhere - in Upper Park Road, The Norton opposite Denzil’s Garden, Tudor Square, with an extensive set of bollards also opposite a local restaurant in the quiet residential street of Clareston Road.
“Time then for another load of bollards? Time also for Domino’s to help find the kind of positive permanent solution that will be appreciated locally,” he added.
A ‘code of conduct’ for delivery drivers requiring that they park in the town’s multi-storey car park at all times will also be implemented according to a management plan as part of the conditions set out by the Planning Inspectorate.
