Penally’s living Advent calendar started at 5 pm on Sunday night, with Penally Abbey (pictured) being the first to switch on their window.

More than 35 villagers and visitors enjoyed the event, with refreshments provided by the hotel.

Every night at 5 pm a new window or windows will be lit and all will remain lit until 10 pm.

Since then windows have been lit on the main road, on the village green, in Four Winds Lane, near to the Village Hall and today (Friday) The Paddock Inn will be lighting their windows and serving refreshments.

Maps showing the location of which windows will be lit and when are available from The Paddock, The Cross Inn, The Village Shop, Penally Abbey and The Overlander with a donation to Paul Sartori Hospice at Home.

The event will finish on Christmas Eve with the Crib Service in Penally Church at 3.30 pm, followed by a chance to view all the windows before refreshments in the Village Hall from 4.30 to 6 pm.
