Just like spring Foundry House, Pembroke’s community centre, is bursting into life!
In December 1999 new trustees were appointed and the management and running of the centre has been conducted by this group of volunteers.
Although for much of this period the building has been under lockdown they have been working hard, under the direction of chairman Pete Coleman, to make the building ready and welcoming for re-opening when lockdown is lifted on May 3.
New IT systems have been installed which will enable the building to be used for Zoom calls for any group or individual to use; they will also be used for maintenance of accurate and up to date record keeping.
The building had been decorated throughout by a group of volunteers led by Joan Marsh and the halls and conference room will be toasty on colder days as a new boiler has been installed.
Covid-19 security is maintained by health and safety guru Les Moreton with up to date information and recording systems which will ensure the safety of all users.
The building is available for use seven days a week. Previous users before lockdown included PemTech Cyber Café, Judo, Yoga, Castle Brass Community Wind Band, Mindfulness, Riverhouse Life Church, Short Mat Bowls, Quilting and Sewing Crafts, Scouts and Cubs, Welsh Playgroup, English and Maths and many other activities.
Foundry House will re-open on May 10 with the current Welsh Government restriction of not more than 15 people in any group at one time so if your group or organisation are looking for somewhere bright, warm and welcoming get in touch.
Email is best as the office is not maintained 24/7: admin @pembroke 21c.org.uk
