Tuesday, December 14 was the day of Pembroke Bridge Club’s Christmas party.

“It was so lovely to welcome the members all dressed up in their Christmas outfits to have such a fun and happy afternoon in our new venue, Lamphey Village Hall,” writes club owner Irene Delahunty.

For those who were unable to attend for several different reasons each were all very much remembered, and acknowledged, along with grateful thanks to special ‘comrades’ present on the day. It was also a joy to embrace ‘old faces’ who very much enjoyed reminiscing over old times, and catching up with their bridge friends.

Irene Delahunty, Peter Milewski, Perry Crickmere and Kevin Thomas were all presented with gifts from all the members who had very kindly made a collection. Kath Brown acknowledged the clubs success in a very moving speech which was gratefully appreciated by all who attended.

Prize winners from the day were; Best Dressed - Kath Brown, (enjoy your champagne) BINGO - Peter Milewski on the 1 and 2 line prizes (enjoy your wine) and Doug Silcox and Dods Arnold winning the full house cash prize between them. Last Person Standing - Non Jenkin - cash prize. There were far too many raffle prize winners to mention, but lots of members went home carrying their gifts.

A special Afternoon Tea from Lamphey Hall Hotel was served at 2 pm along with Mulled Wine and Bucks Fizz. A special thank you to Cynthia Richards from Lamphey for preparing the tea as it was absolutely fabulous!

For the bridge itself, the club had 10 FULL TABLES! The ‘mix up’ of partners was so much fun and the results were; 1st place Derek Earle and Liz Richardson, (they will have their names engraved onto the Gus Middleton Christmas Party Cup,) 2nd Perry Crickmere & Jean Charnock and 3rd place Kevin Thomas & Pat Francis.

The Club will re-open on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 with play beginning at 1 pm. In the meantime, club sessions continue throughout the Christmas period on Wednesday evenings at 7 pm, and Friday mornings at 11 am on the Bridge Base Online (BBO) platform.
