As we were going to press yesterday (Thursday), the Observer was informed that plans for the old primary school in Narberth were to be revealed imminently.
Clr. Wynne Evans, who represents the town on Pembrokeshire County Council, has been in contact with the town council to arrange a meeting between them and the new owners of the school site.
"It is hoped the meeting will take place in the next few days," said Clr. Evans.
"I am delighted this is about to happen after years of speculation and rumours about the school site," he continued.
And he explained: "It has been a lengthy process by the county council to get a scheme that would enhance the Narberth experience, as well as some housing needs for local people.
"As well as car parking for the town, I think many of the boxes have been ticked and I hope the proposed scheme, which still has to run the full and lengthy planning process, will be welcomed by many in the town, but possibly not all."
Clr. Evans added: "I also hope a day-long presentation can be held in the town for the people of Narberth to see the designs and expectations of the new developed site."
FOOTNOTE: Clr. Evans has confirmed that the new owners have given Narberth Food Festival special permission to use the playground area for this year's event as they appreciate the importance of events like that to the economy of the town.
