After the marriage ended some years later, Robin became a single parent to his young children and provided a happy stable home whilst continuing his working life as a carpet fitter and for a number of years running his own carpet business in Haverfordwest.

He retired when he was 60 due to ill health and relished life in Pembrokeshire. He particularly enjoyed time spent on the local beaches and walking the coastal path.

Family was everything to Robin. He was very proud of his grandchildren, Christopher, Laura, Tom, Morgan, Louis, Daniel and Emily and enjoyed spending time, and in particular holidays, with them, his children, and his son-in-law Kevin and daughters-in-law Sarah and Peter.

His funeral was held on Saturday, March 11, and was conducted by Rev. Andrew Grace. The bearers were his two sons and four grandsons.

During the service, his niece Sharan ‘Pud’ Stace-Smith played a moving rendition of ‘Danny Boy’, as requested by Robin, followed by a recording of ‘Run’ by his favourite choir ‘Bella Voce’.

Olive and her younger sister Ivy were called upon to help their mother run the farm when Stanley unexpectedly died.

After her mother remarried, the family left Broadmoor, making the Wiseman’s Bridge Inn their new home. They ran the Inn during the war years where Olive met Winston Churchill during the D Day landing practice. The Inn was a hub of activity which Olive loved to tell stories about.

Olive loved cycling, swimming, and walking on Wiseman’s Bridge beach and it was here she met her future husband Fred. Her family was complete after having two daughters, Jean and Jaqueline. Post war, Olive saw the potential in tourism. The Inn was sold and her family moved to Pleasant Valley where Olive started her own caravan park.

During the 80s, Olive discovered a new passion in the form of watercolour painting. She joined painting classes at Saundersfoot which brought her much joy and newfound friends.

Olive was a feisty and determined lady who was never afraid to speak her mind and stand up for what she believed in. She held a great appreciation of beauty and nature, often choosing to spend the majority of her days outdoors. She showed great perseverance in anything she put her mind to, working from dawn to dusk until tasks were complete.

Olive’s zest for life, hard work and dedication to all things will be missed by family and friends alike.
