The new superstore in Narberth is to open its doors next month.

The former Brains Brewery site development has been hugely controversial, as at first it was to be a large scale housing development project, but then the firm behind it went into liquidation.

Then an application was made by agents acting on behalf of the Co-op, but because of planning issues with regard to a much bigger store than the original permission would allow, the Co-op agents withdrew and put the site up for sale,

"Finally, after all these years, I am delighted and happy that the store is near to opening," said local county councillor Wynne Evans.

"It has been a huge investment by the CK group, on what I can only describe as impressive and overwhelming in its sheer size.

"I also praise the consideration to its use of new green technologies, and I can add that I am going to nominate them for a national award," he continued.
