Tenby’s first ever Soapbox Derby is set to roar into action later this month.

Racers were revved up and ready for the event back before the summer, but a number of factors led the organisers Tenby Round Table to postpone the action.

Now a new venue and new date has been set for the charity race, with Pembrokeshire County Council giving permission to hold the Soapbox Derby, at Butts Field (North Beach Car Park) on Saturday, September 23.

Scrutineering will commence at 11am and first race will take place at 12 noon.

All entrants will be notified of the course as soon as it is officially announced. The course consists of a steep downhill, sharp bends, obstacles (which may fall on your Kart if struck) and a jump/ramp – all these features may be added to or removed at the organiser’s discretion.

Entry is £30 per team together with a fully completed entry form required.

A full family fun day is planned, with bouncy castles, hot dog/burger stalls, ice cream, and much more entertainment. There will be parking for competitors and also public parking on site.

“It will be a full day of fun for all of the family so please come and support us,” said Ed Spence of Tenby Round Table.
