A new community fund is being launched to give local groups and charities much-needed funding. But the funding will not be a set grant or loan from another body but that of a 50 per cent contribution from local people who will be encouraged to take part in a new Community Asset Fund lottery for West Wales.

On Monday, December 16, between 12.30 and 1.30 pm in Unit 9 at PLANED, Narberth there will be a special promoters meeting focusing on the new fund Cronfa Asedion Cymunedol/Community Assets Fund.

If you would like to find out more about the great opportunities this scheme can provide to local communities and how local volunteers could earn £500 as a promoter, then why not come along to the event. It’s also an opportunity for networking and to catch up with like-minded people. Additional information about the scheme can be seen on www.asedion.cymru

The scheme was set but by community champion Cris Tomos, who explained: “The idea is very similar to a 100 or 200 club, but offering a wider membership and larger monthly prizes. The aim is to have 2,000 members by the end of 2021 and that this will give local charities a pot of £60,000 for their good causes.

“It will be those who are contributing to the £5 a month entry that will decide where half of their entry money goes in terms of donating to their charity of choice, and if one charity has a 100 members contributing to them per year that will be an extra £3,000 per annum to that charity. Also, there will be prizes of several thousand pounds per month, ” he concluded.

Those interested in the new fund need to contact the project co-ordinator Jason Retter on 01834 860965 or on [email protected] before the end of day on Friday, December 13, so that final numbers are confirmed for light refreshments.
