The ever-popular Dhogie Band has released a new album which pays homage to the wilds of west Wales, a land of song and stories.
This latest Welsh language collection - O’r Gorllewin Gwyllt - From The Wild West, takes a journey through the rugged landscape of this special part of Wales, meeting some unique Pembrokeshire characters along the way.
Decades of gigging and recording have led the north Pembrokeshire based Dhogie Band to a great combination of musicians.
The current line-up blends the energy of younger members, drummer Iwan Hughes and singer/guitarist Reuben Wilsdon-Amos, with the experience of original members Eric Nicholas on keyboard and John Humfrey, guitarist and vocals, and Edward Hughes in the middle on bass and vocals.
The band fills dance floors all over Wales and beyond, and recorded the album at NSL Studio, Newport, over the past few months.
Guitarist and singer John said: “The band has been going for 47 years now and we still really enjoy playing, composing and recording.
“We felt a new Welsh album was long overdue. The CD introduces some great new songs written by Edward Hughes that we are very excited about. There are also some original songs which go down really well when we play live.”
Tracks feature the distinctive Dhogie sound, with beautiful harmonies, haunting vocals and some brand new songs to listen and dance to.
Songs tell of sunny days on the Pembrokeshire coast and the Preselis, local legends and heritage, and individuals who made their mark on the silver screen or in the wrestling ring.
The album also includes some classic favourites such as Pishyn and Cân Walter.
The recently released album is available from www.dhogieband.com, local shops, itunes and other digital stores, or pick up a copy at the band’s gigs.
