2016 marks 80 years since a group of outdoor activists established the Standing Council on National Parks, which had the aim of securing the creation of National Parks for the benefit of everyone. To celebrate, the charity, which was to become Campaign for National Parks, has organised several activities during National Parks week.
On July 30 they have partnered with campaigning organisation 38 Degrees to organise free walks and art workshops in all of the National Parks in the UK.
The theme of National Parks week this year is ‘adventure’. The activities taking place organised by Campaign for National Parks and 38 Degrees provide the chance for people to get right into the heart of some of Britain’s most beautiful landscapes.

Also to mark this significant milestone for Campaign for National Parks, on July 31, the legendary Bill Bryson will be presenting a BBC Radio 4 Appeal for the charity. Bill will urge people to safeguard the future of the Parks by saying, “I can’t imagine this glorious island without National Parks. Can you?”
The appeal is transmitted at 7.54am on Sunday, July 31 and will be available on the BBC Radio 4 Charity appeals website http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07m4gc2
