Pembroke Ladies Lifeboat Guild are extremely grateful to Stephen Thornton, Pembroke Chamber chair, policy and public affairs manager at Valero, David Halsted, Chamber vice-hair, of Halsted’s Pembroke, partner of the Pembrokeshire Apple Juice and Cider Company, and Chamber members for their invitation to create an RNLI fundraiser for the first Annual Pembroke Chamber Of Trade Charity Weekend, at the Valero marquee, in the ideal town location of Pembroke Commons.
The ‘Music and Cider With Henry’ scene for the evening would not have been complete without the Pembroke town crier, Rose Blackburn, in uniform, with Gracie her greyhound and, of course, Henry VII, aka Malcolm Powell.
The new Henry VII memorabilia, developed for the unveiling of Pembroke’s Henry VII statue, was on sale at Linda and Stuart Asman’s interesting Pembroke and Monkton History Society display also. Thank you all.
“The event photos testify everyone’s enjoyment - amazing weather and priceless local support,” said Daphne Bush, of the Pembroke Ladies Lifeboat Guild.
“Thanks to you all and our sponsors, £300 will be sent to the RNLI.
“£300 will buy various items for an RNLI lifeguard, Tamar lifeboat crew member or inshore lifeboat crew member.
“A lifeboat crew safety helmet fitted with a camera, for example. The cost of such equipment puts the value of our vital fundraising into perspective.”
The event sponsors were Stephen Thornton and Valero Pembroke Refinery staff who provided, assembled and dismantled the Valero marquee, Andy and Kathy Evans, of Monddi, publicity design, the Observer Group of newspapers advertising department, Collins Plant Hire, the Pembrokeshire Cider and Apple Juice Company partners, David Halsted, Jon Ryan, Wisebuys and Chris Scourfield, of the Castle Inn, Pembroke.
Ali Moore and the Vagrants Crew put on superb non-stop music throughout the evening.
“On behalf of the RNLI, thank you from us all on Pembroke Guild,” continued Daphne.
“The RNLI could not maintain its 24/7 coastal rescue service, seasonal lifeguard service, inland waterway rescue service, flood rescue service, research and development into new boats and equipment without your support of our fundraising.”
