A meeting has been called for today (Monday) at 4 pm, to discuss a licensing application submitted for The Prince of Wales, on Upper Frog Street, in Tenby.

The premises has submitted a ‘variation of premises licence’ application to Pembrokeshire County Council’s licensing department to extend its hours of opening.

The variation refers to the hours which licensable activities occur and the hours the premises remains open to the public, including - a variation of recorded and live music, from 7 pm to 4 am; varitaion of sale by retail of alcohol from 7 pm to 4 am; variation of hours to the public between 10 am and 4.30 am.

Tenby town council is holding a meeting today at 4 pm, at their offices in the De Valence Pavilion, to discuss the application, with comments from residents and business owners welcomed, to be passed onto PCC’s public protection division.

“The town council is a consultee on such applications; however we can only respond on the basis of representations made to us by local businesses and residents,” said the Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Laurence Blackhall.

A letter drop with the details of the meeting and application has also been made over the weekend to properties in the locality.

“Normally we’d discuss it at a normal council meeting but we found out about the application relatively late and have to get responses into Pembrokeshire County Council’s licensing division by tomorrow,” explained town clerk Andrew Davies.

Any comments those attending wish to submit should specifically link to the four objectives stated in the Licensing Act - the prevention of crime and disorder; public safety; prevention of public nuisance; protection of children from harm.
