A meeting will be held in Tenby on Wednesday to look at different ways the resort and businesses can achieve a Dementia Friendly Status for the town.

Tenby town council has committed to working in partnership with Pembrokeshire County Council and local voluntary organisations to make Tenby a ‘dementia friendly’ resort.

With the introduction of ‘beach friendly wheelchairs’ to the resort back in the summer, Clr. Mrs. Samantha Skyrme-Blackhall has outlined to her colleagues in recent months, the need to improve access to all parts of the town, with steps in place to try and help Tenby become a more dementia friendly town.

“A number of towns throughout the UK have recognised that we can do more to support members of our local community and visitors that suffer from dementia, so we are holding a meeting to look at the different ways the town and businesses can support people and their families, and ensure that we make our spaces more accessible,” she explained.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday at the Imperial Hotel, on Lower Frog Street, at 6 pm.

“We are inviting people to come together to see how we can help and work together for an exploratory meeting,” added Clr. Mrs. Skyrme-Blackhall.
