The Observer has exclusively been informed this week of plans to relocate not one, but two of South Pembrokeshire's Royal Mail delivery offices.

We have been led to believe that both Tenby and Narberth branches are to be moved to a 'fit for purpose site', possibly in Templeton.

However, whilst a company official has confirmed the Narberth plans, the Tenby claims have - so far - been refuted.

When contacted about the matter, Royal Mail spokesperson, Mike Norman, said: "Royal Mail has already confirmed that we are seeking to relocate our delivery office in Spring Gardens, Narberth.

"We aim to relocate the office to a more suitable and fit for purpose site within a three mile radius of the current office. We are currently working with a local developer after having identified a site at Templeton."

Mr. Norman continued: "As a commercial business, operating in a market that is open to competition from other postal operators, we constantly review the operational efficiency and commercial practicality of all our units.

"However, we currently do not have any firm plans regarding Tenby Delivery Office.

"We operate an open and honest policy with our staff and any modernisation or efficiency proposals being considered would always, in the first instance, involve full discussions with staff affected by any proposed change."
