Recognised throughout the world as one of the leading guitarists in Celtic music, Canada-based Tony McManus will be starting his latest European tour next week in the atmospheric surroundings of an historic Pembrokeshire chapel.
Scottish by birth, Tony is a virtuoso guitarist who is equally at home playing the traditional tunes of the Celtic lands as he is performing works by composers as diverse as J S Bach and Charlie Mingus.
For the concert at Burnett’s Hill Chapel on Tuesday, (February 5) he will be joined by Julia Toaspern, a multi-talented musician from Berlin who combines classical training on violin and voice with a wide interest in genres such as jazz, baroque and traditional music.
She has released two albums of original songs and has performed in both classical and singer/songwriter modes on both sides of the Atlantic, and her skills as a guitarist are prodigious.
Together they will perform powerful interwoven guitar duets and guitar and fiddle tunes, as well as singing traditional, classical and self-penned songs, all delivered with passion and commitment.
The concert starts at 7.30 pm and tickets are available from Main Street Music in Pembroke or by phoning 01646 651725.
