During First Minister Questions in the National Assembly Simon Thomas raised the issue of support for those affected by flooding.
Plaid Cymru’s Mid and West AM Simon Thomas said: “No party of Government has taken climate change seriously enough, and that is very unfortunate indeed. Turning to the impact of floods in west Wales, a number of businesses and individual homes, rather than wide areas have been affected in places such as Tenby, Saundersfoot and elsewhere.
“We have seen in England that local authorities have been providing grants of £500 to assist those people to get back up on their feet. In Scotland, they have similarly provided a grant of £1,500, and we were pleased to see that the Community Foundation in Wales has launched a fund to restore things after flooding.
“I asked the Welsh Government to support such grants to assist people and to assist businesses to get back on their feet, or to contribute to that national fund.”
The Labour Welsh Government said it was something they were still considering.
