Recycling facilities located at the Co-op car park in Kilgetty have been removed due to constant ‘abuse’ and ‘fly-tipping’ Pembrokeshire County Council have stated.
“The facilities were removed on Wednesday at the request of the Community Council due to the abuse suffered through fly-tipping,” said a spokesperson for the Authority.
“We are currently reviewing the set-up and will be linking with the Co-op, Community Council and District Enforcement to establish a way forward and to potentially reinstate the facility at some point in the future.
“As a reminder all recycling material collected from the facility can be collected as part of the kerbside collection.
“Black bags to be disposed of can be taken to Crane Cross Waste Recycling Centre,” they added.
Local resident Andrew Morgan said that despite the council removing the household rubbish dumped there a few times a week, and the issue being highlighted in the press and on social media, plus many locals and Co-Op staff trying to help the situation, it was a shame that the recycling facility has now been lost due
“The problem just would not go away,” he said.
“I wonder how many more recycling areas will be removed from outlying communities because of a small minority of idiots.”
