How do you find out what's going on in your community? Newsletter? Social media? Word of mouth?
Keeping residents up to speed with local news and events was the topic of a recent Community Forum Network meeting held at Llawhaden YFC and Community Hall, organised by PLANED.
Community forum representatives and newsletter editors were invited to share their best ideas on how to reach individuals in their neighbourhoods as well as demonstrating their creative talents in the designs of their publications and how to generate funding for printing costs.
A Different Angle editor Mike Pedder gave an entertaining presentation on producing his community's newsletter for seven years. Other speakers were Sue Roch, from Uzmaston, who shared her experiences of organising a community event, and Elizabeth Gossage, of Pembroke 21C, who uses Facebook and Twitter to market her project.
The winner of the Newsletter of the Year 2012, judged by Western Telegraph editor Holly Robinson, was Llais Rhian, which will have the printing costs for its next three editions funded by PLANED.
