The supply of scones and cakes was not just abundant - it seemed never-ending, as more people arrived after these pictures were taken, many of them carrying further contributions of food - with gluten free options aplenty. Tea was served in the best china, there was some gentle live guitar music, and some good conversation was had too.
It’s hard to beat freshly picked strawberries from Pat Bean at Springfields; not only did they taste wonderful, but they also made a festive display suitable for the royal occasion.
The afternoon was a chance to have a look at the Tabernacle URC Church, with its attractively decorated organ, box pews and history display boards - and, of course, the beautiful, imaginative ‘Garden through Time’ set in the old Town Walls.
All proceeds from the afternoon will go to support Ukrainian refugees in Pembroke and the surrounding area. One man was heard to joke that he would approve of the cause as long as Wales managed to beat Ukraine in that evening’s game... well, that’s all right then!
