Sir,

Even as I got up on Sunday morning, Ironman supporters had already gathered opposite my cottage with bells and whistles to cheer on the participants.

Their yellow and black outfits were a cheerful splash of colour, although the furiously cycling competitors with heads bent low over the handlebars probably did not even notice them.

As I stood at my gate, one of the spectators dressed like a wasp, complete with wings, came across to ask if I was alright with the noise. I assured her I was quite happy - and even happier when she stayed to enjoy a long and interesting chat with me that was, for me, the highlight of what could have been a lonely day.

Then, a few hours later, two more members of the group knocked on my door with a dish of paella for me!

I hope these supporters from Caerphilly enjoyed their time in Tenby. They certainly made my day.

Barbara Stredder,

Marsh?Road,

Tenby.
